June 2019 winner Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation

Charitocracy's 34th check to June winner Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation for $1530

We have good news about June winner Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation, right after this quick update...

Summer Travel

I returned home at midnight last night, just as our new Charitocracy winner was being selected. It's the first dark night I've seen for weeks. I've been adventure traveling with my son near the Arctic, spanning summer solstice, where at best the sky dims a bit for a couple hours. It's strange having to once again plan my time around something as pesky as when the sun will be out!

Now I look forward to settling down and enjoying some actual summer heat before hitting the road again with Jessica and the kids for 6 weeks in August. We'll be embarking on an epic family RV trip with a focus on national parks. But my Charitocracy laptop is no stranger to the nomadic lifestyle, so you can expect things to roll on without disruption. There just may be a day or two in there when we have no access to Internet. Charitocracy pretty much runs itself these days, anyway!

June 2019 winner Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation

Last night we named Charitocracy's 34th monthly winner. Congratulations to Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation, nominated by donors katnadam0616. They support and shape the direction of research into the cure, prevention, and management of cerebral palsy. You can find their web site here.

Now you have a week to further sweeten the pot with a special one-time donation of any amount, which we'll add straight to the check we write to CPARF next week.

Before you go, check out CPARF's video about how something as simple as a wheelchair can transform lives. Then feel good about your part in our collective $1530+ grant to help with their work!

Have a great July and be sure to log into Charitocracy to update your votes or nominate a new cause!

Spotlight on nominee National Institute for Reproductive Health

Nominee National Institute for Reproductive Health

Next in our series of posts about new Charitocracy nominees, we have nominee National Institute for Reproductive Health, nominated by donor Bethany. They advance reproductive freedom through proactive policy. You can find their web site here.

A few words on Charitocracy

Firstly, for newcomers: here's how it works. Donors pool their monthly contributions, as little as $1. The cause with the most votes each month wins the pot. No matter how much or how little you contribute, each donor at Charitocracy gets one vote. This is where charity meets democracy. So please share this post and ask your friends to join us and vote! That's how we spread the word and, as a result, grow the monthly pot. The bigger the pot, the bigger our positive impact on the world!

About nominee National Institute for Reproductive Health

The National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) builds power at the state and local level to change public policy, galvanize public support, and normalize women’s decisions about abortion and contraception.

Using a partnership model, we provide state and local advocates with strategic guidance, hands-on support, and funding to create national change from the ground up. We are a force multiplier – we form strategic partnerships with a wide range of organizations to directly impact the reproductive health and lives of women across the country. Since 2008, NIRH has provided direct grants and hands-on support to more than 170 reproductive health, rights, and justice organizations in 43 states and 64 localities across the country.

At the national level, we go where others don’t, engaging in groundbreaking public opinion research and original reports, proactive policy initiatives, and innovative advocacy campaigns to shape a new national conversation about reproductive freedom. We’re also known for our signature initiatives, including our nationally recognized youth leadership and peer education program, TORCH.

Our political arm, the NIRH Action Fund, works in parallel to change state and local electoral and policy landscapes.

We don’t just push back against restrictions on abortion and contraception; we fight for a society in which everyone has the freedom and ability to control their reproductive and sexual lives.

About nominee Americans United

Who We Are

We are lawyers and lobbyists, students and activists, religious leaders and impassioned Americans. We are people of faith and people who don't profess any particular faith. We are a community that includes and welcomes people of all genders, races, ethnicities, religions or beliefs, sexual orientations, ages, classes and abilities.

What We Do

We use high-impact litigation, powerful lobbying and grassroots advocacy to ensure that:

  • Religion does not dictate public policy.
  • The government does not tell Americans what to believe or how to practice their faith.
  • Discrimination is not justified under the guise of religion.

Our Mission

Americans United for Separation of Church and State is a nonpartisan educational and advocacy organization dedicated to advancing the separation of religion and government as the only way to ensure freedom of religion, including the right to believe or not believe, for all.
